Improving ADA Paratransit Demand Estimation: Regional Modeling

The Transportation Research Board’s Transit Cooperative Research Program has published a report, TCRP Report 158: Improving ADA Paratransit Demand Estimation: Regional Modeling, which includes planning models to help regional, state, and federal agencies that oversee public transportation plan for the projected future demands of ADA paratransit. The report, also includes planning models that predict travel by ADA paratransit-eligible individuals on all modes of public transit, not just ADA paratransit. All model parameters and coefficients are contained in the report and a fully implemented version is available on a CD-ROM that comes with the printed version of the report.

Universal Design (UD) is an approach to design that increases the potential for developing a better quality of life for a wide range of individuals. It is a design process that enables and empowers a diverse population by improving human performance, health and wellness, and social participation (Steinfeld and Maisel, 2012). It creates products, systems, and environments to be as usable as possible by as many people as possible regardless of age, ability or situation.
