Parking Mobility App

alttext

Parking Mobility is a mobile app that helps individuals with disabilities and their supporters report handicapped parking abusers. Offered on three popular platforms, Android, iPhone and Blackberry, Parking Mobility allows its users to file a report of handicapped parking abuse with their city police by taking a set of three photos – one of the license plate, one of the front windshield (proving the lack of a disability placard), and one of the car parked in a clearly marked handicapped space. Parking Mobility then automatically fills in a report that can be electronically sent to the city police for ticketing. In addition, Parking Mobility offers its users the opportunity to allocate a portion of the ticket payment towards their charity of choice.

Universal Design (UD) is an approach to design that increases the potential for developing a better quality of life for a wide range of individuals. It is a design process that enables and empowers a diverse population by improving human performance, health and wellness, and social participation (Steinfeld and Maisel, 2012). It creates products, systems, and environments to be as usable as possible by as many people as possible regardless of age, ability or situation.
