Our architectural firm was established more than 15 years ago by John P. S. Salmen, AIA, a licensed architect who has specialized in barrier free and universal design for more than 30 years. Salmen founded the firm in 1991 to pursue his passion for universal design -- designing environments and space to be usable by people of all ages and abilities, to the greatest extent possible, without the need for adaptation or specialized design.
Our expertise includes compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADAAG), the proposed Americans with Disabilities Act/Architectural Barriers Act Accessibility Guidelines (ADA/ABA-AG or ADAAG-R), the Americans with Disabilities Act Standards for Accessible Design (ADA Standards or ADA-SAD), the Fair Housing Act Accessibility Guidelines (FHAAG), Minimum Guidelines and Requirements for Accessible Design (MGRAD) and assisting designers and developers in meeting (or exceeding) the letter and spirit of those regulations.
