On the website Instructablescom, which allows users to share what they make, user XenonJohn describes how he built the Magic Music Table. The device was designed to help a child with a disability who is unable to load and operate a CD player or use the small buttons and menus of mp3 players. The Magic Music Table connects an iPod to an Arduino, which tells the device to start playing a particular track based on a selection made with RFID cards. The RFID cards are each placed inside of a plastic case along with a picture of the album’s art. The Magic Music Table could benefit people with developmental or cognitive disabilities, poor dexterity, as well as older adults and the very young.
